My bike seat slipeed 4 inches(!) at Waco, and ever since then I have been having knee problems. I have had knee problems in the past. It's been at least 9 months since and knees last bothered me, and since then I have been much better about cross training the different muscles in my leg and keeping my seat at the proper height. I made the mistake of trying to get back on the knee too soon after only one day off, and that predictably agitated it more.

The cartilage on my left knee seems to have loosened a lot and the patella seems to be just floating off path. Occasionally it will click back into position.

Does anyone have recomendations for a good knee doctor in Frisco? ... and Doc, how long do you think I will have to stay of the knee?

I cannot comment on Orthopedic Doctors in the Frisco area. Though I lived in Denton (west of Frisco about 20 miles) and had worked with some great orthopedic doctors there, that was 25 years ago and most of those are long retired.

Give yourself a least a week off of the knee. Then gradually build yourself up on the bike. Do easy spins, no mashing. Ease off the running while your knee recovers. Also do some weight training to help build the muscles about the knee to help stablelize it. Doing lower leg extensions with your leg bent only about halfway (45 dergree bend to the knees) with low weights and high reps can help. Half squats can be helpful as well. The key is to avoid placing a high stress loads on the knees which occurs with big gear mashing, leg extensions from 90 degrees and deep sqauts.

Hopefully some of the readers in the Frisco, Denton and Plano/North Dallas areas can give you some good recommendations for an orthopedic doctor in the area. Also check with your own doctor who may have good experience with the specialists in the area.

Thanks,
