Just reading that antiinflammitories and some pain killers can delay bone healing. What is your take on the research?

Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflamatory Drugs, NSAIDs can impede growth of new blood vessels and thereby slow healing. Exercise and movement speed blood vessel formation and bone growth. If pain is a limiting factor to exercise, then prudent usage of NSAIDs may be of help if it reduces pain and increases exercise and movement. So it is a trade off. I personally avoid taking them unless pain becomes a significant limiting factor.

Thats my take.

Thanks,

When I was recovering from my broken leg (tib/fib) last year, I frequented a website called mybrokenleg.com. Lots of good info there regarding various studies, approaches, and old wive's tales. I took much of the advice there, went really easy on the ibuprofen and other pain meds, started riding the trainer even before I could put weight on my leg, and watched my diet including calcium supplements. I can't tell you which part worked best, but 15 months later, I have been fully recovered for months now from what could have been a lingering injury. Good luck.
