Plants: Poison Ivy is plentyfull in that neck of the woods and could cause that kind of a rash.
Sun: Typical sunburn is confluent to all sun exposed areas. Sun can even burn through a jersey. If the sun burn is bad, second degree, the blisters are often large and develop over the burned area.
Bugs: Blister beatles. But you likely would have remembered the sting, as is a firey, painfull sting. Fire ants can also cause small blisters but they typically look like little pimples.
Treatment: Gently clense the area and cover with an heavy protective ointment. I like Corona Ointment, it can be purchased at feed stores, farm and ranch supplies stores and Tractor Supply Co. stores.
