Doc,
Hi, looks like I'm going under the knife next Tues. I was really looking forward to this spring season. I'm having a microdiskectomy/laminectomy on L5-S1. This will be my second. The first was in 1992 on the right side. I'm not sure what caused this one. Seemed liked all the tingling started while taking the Levaquin. My left leg is totally numb behind my left knee to about 50%down my calve and 70% on bottom of foot to the last 2 toes.

Do you know the recovery time for a microdiskectomy L5-S1 left side?

Thanks, Kevin D.

Kevin:

It is best to direct this question speceifically to your orthopedic surgeon. Ask about staged recovory, starting with stationary bike, then road biking then off road biking. You should follow his or her' advice to avoid injury.

Thanks,

I had surgery 1-20-2009 and everything went well. I was up walking up and down the street the next day. Things are are improving slowly but surely. Thanks Matt for your concerns and sorry you won't be able to kick my _ _ _ again this spring Sad Look forward to riding soon!
