1X11? 2-3X11? 2-3X10? and why?
As a first-time marathoner is my 3X10 out-dated?
I am going 1X11 eventually, but should I make the switch before Excruiation Exam? |

your going to find a bunch of 1x11 or even 1x12 answers come from this polling or even just looking around at the next couple races whether they are Marathon or XC.
Before EE, that's your personal preference(and dependent on if you can ride it enough to be used to it before racing on it). EE is a lot of pedaling on roads and gravel, so the big chain ring your 3x provides will be useful along with as the day gets longer having 2 more 'front' chain options.... |

For EE, I ran a Hardtail 10-42 1x11 with a 38T Chainring
Other races I will be on 9-46 1x12 with 30T chainring
If you are only doing EE, your 3x10 is just fine and probably better than some limited range 1x11s |
