Hey Doc,
You're an invaluable resource to the MTB community. Thanks for being there to help us folks out.

I'm a 37 y/o male, been riding and occasionally racing for 9 years. I eat a fairly well-balanced diet. I've got these veins in my forehead that stand out after a hard ride, which I would expect, but later in the evening and even sometimes the following morning they're still quite prominent, which makes me wonder if it's high blood pressure. I'm not on any meds and don't have a family history of high bp that I'm aware of. I feel just fine, other than being toasted from the ride.

Does this sound like a problem?

Your large veins are not a sign of high blood pressure but a sign of increased blood flow. This is likely due to your body adaptation to the heat and exercise. The best measure of high blood pressure is repeat measurments over several days. Talk to you doctor. Keep up the good work with your bike riding and racing, it will help keep you blood pressure under control.

Thanks,
