I have a problem with my left leg. During and after the Dirty Dozen it feels as if the lower leg bone was fractured. However if this were true I know that I would not be walking on it. What I fear is a sort of shin splint with pain that starts in the front, just below the knee joint running down the shin. It sound very similar to what another person posted on this board earlier complaining of pain on the down stroke, however the pain I am experiencing is more in my shin. Do you know anything about this? I was on the stair climber last night and it was bothering me again. Thanks for your input.

Is it the actual shin, or the muscle next to the shin. You use those muscles to 'pull' up your up stroke and when running. I don't know dude, sounds like its either time off, or a little pain.-wink

Definitely the muscle on the shin; or the separation of the muscle from the bone. Not the bone itself, I don’t think I would be walking if it was. It is pretty intense. My last two laps were agony. I almost fell off the stair stepper when I went down too hard one time. It doesn’t hurt walking around, but any pedaling related motion hurts after 10 minutes or so.

mak7066:

The pain being only on one leg, makes me think it is less likely shin splints and more likely a local injury muscle and tendon or even possibly a small stress fracture. If it is just a local muscle and tendon injury, massage, resting, anti-inflamatory therapy may be all that is in order. If it is a stress facture a period of resting, no weight bearing on the involved leg to allow addequate healing is in order. Get an evaluation by your Physician or a Sports Medicine Physician and possibly a Physical Therapist.

Thanks,

Yeah, going solo really rips your body. Last year I hurt my knee, it didn't heal til the 3rd race of the series!
