Doc,

Awhile back I saw you recomended a joint/flexability supplement. (Glucosamine Chondroit...) I am thinking of starting on one (adding it to my multivitamin) and wanted to make sure you still believe it is a good idea. I'm 31 on no medications and have no real joint problems it's more for preventative maintenence.

Glucosamine and chondroitin have been show to help reduce the pain of osteoarthritis. There are no published studies showing taking them in someone who has no joint symptoms or arthritis can or cannot be of benefit for preventing joint deterioration. So, unfortunately, there is little in the litterature for me to make a clear recommendation one way or the other for taking chronic glucosamin and chondroitin for someone who has no joint disease.
