It is not rocks on your gloves (or in your head for that matter) that is causing the pain. I suspect you may have a local inflamation to the tendon or the nerve in the index finger from the repetitive vibrations coming through the handlebar or from blunt truama that might have been received from a blow to the finger from one of your rides. Have your doctor check your hand out and possibly get a referral to an orthopedic doctor. You may benefit from some local physical therapy and possibly spinting to the involved finger for a period of time.
