Doc, I was racing at X bar. You Know JRA and managed to separate my shoulder. I paid $4 to park at his office and the Ortho showed me a cool Xray on his tablet PC. My collarbone now looks like a lever in free air.
I have a 3rd class or grade separation. He said Surgery would normaly only be cosmetic and I should begin PT in another week or so. Let pain be my guide, etc.
For the most part I am not wearing my sling or imobilizer (I dislocate the same shoulder alot, so I have both), sleeping on my back an taking about 2400 mg of Motrin per day.
My question is (yes I am finally getting to it), what is the amount of time should I stay off my MTB and/or my road bike. Would riding the road bike in a few weeks be bad? |

It's alot like riding a motorcycle, it's only bad if you crash. Give the bone time to heal 6 to 8 weeks. I did not follow the doctors advice and got back on the (motor)bike in 6 weeks, took a spill and rebroke the collar bone.
