Visit with your orthopedic surgeon on this one. You will have to allow healing time and likely not make it back for the spring racing season. However, you may find yourself able to perform better than before the surgery once you are healed up. Keep in mind that a knee replacement, partial or full, is never equal to the performance of a healthy, sound knee, but it can be certainly be far better than the unsound knee that it replaced. So you may find once you are cleared by your surgeon that you will be able to pedal at a level better than you were with your unsound knee. A dear friend of mind was a good exam of this. She underwent a full knee replacement last year. She could barely walk before. Now when I see her walk, I wouldn't know she had the knee problem to start with. I see bike riding again in your future.
