2022 Texas Mountain Bike XC State Championship Series

Start/finish location:
Buck Creek Trails are located on FM 2833 (East Lake Road) in Abilene, TX, 2 miles north of the intersection of FM 2833 and Highway 351. Note: We will not start at the Buck Creek daily use gate. We are working with the Abilene Police Department Bike Unit and have access to the Dodson Training Center facilities. Please enter at the training center 1⁄2 mile north of Buck Creek’s daily use gate. The address for the training center is 4557 E Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601. Restrooms and showers are available at the training center. Please check the map on our website for directions. Lodging: There will be primitive camping available at the venue site. RV camping will be available at the venue, but there are no hook-ups. Please check our website for more information about camping and local hotels.

Course description:
9 mile single track circuit course on 160 acres of land.
Pro/Cat 1/Single Speed Open: 3 laps (27 miles); Cat 1 men 15-18, 50+, and all Cat 1 women: 2 laps (18 miles); Cat 2 & Single Speed 2/3: 2 laps (18 miles);
Cat 3: 1 lap (9 miles); 12 & under: 2 laps of kid course (5 miles); 10 & under: 1 lap of kid course (3 miles) *Mileage does not include the start loop.* The course offers a little bit of everything. This may be West Texas, but this is not a flat course!

Race Details:
*12U and 10U will race on Saturday, February 26, at 4:00 pm. The course will be closed for pre-riding from 4:00-5:00 during the 12U and 10U race. All other categories will race starting at 8:00 am on Sunday, February 27, in category blocks and will be scored separately at the finish. Helmets are required at all times when on the bike. A racing license is required; this is a USA Cycling event. We will race rain or shine; course may be revised if needed for muddy conditions. All fees are non-refundable. On-site registration will be accepted at the race location on Saturday from 1:00-5:00 pm and on Sunday from 6:30 am until 30 minutes before race start time. A mandatory pre-race meeting will be held on race day at the staging area 15 minutes prior to start time. Race categories and fees are listed on the following chart. The expo area will be open for pre-riding on Saturday, February 26, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Fees & Licensing:
This is a USA Cycling and a Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association (TMBRA) event. A USAC license is required for Cat 1 and Pro riders. If you are a Cat 2 or 3 racer and do not have a license, you will need to purchase a day-of license for $10 online at https://www.bikereg.com/bentwheelbashtx. Each racer must have a valid ID – no exceptions.

**The land access fee of $10 IS INCLUDED in your registration. You will not be charged at the gate. For campers, there is a charge of $20 for a campsite for one night or $30 for two nights. No reservations are necessary. Cash payment can be made at the gate. Campsites will be available starting at noon on Friday, February 25. Prizes & Awards: Pro/Cat 1 racers will receive payout per TMBRA guidelines. Cat 2 & Single Speed 2/3 will receive prizes. Cat 3 will receive awards and have a swag raffle.
